About Me
Hello, I'm Luuk
I'm a Front-end Developer based in the Netherlands, currently working at de Voorhoede in Amsterdam. My journey in web development is driven by a passion for creating accessible, performant, and inclusive digital experiences.
My Journey
My path to front-end development began with an Application Development course at MBO College Hilversum. After completing this program, I started my career as a part-time full-stack developer working with Angular and Coldfusion, while pursuing Business IT & Management studies at Windesheim in Almere.
I soon discovered my true passion lay in front-end development, which led me to the Front-end Design & Development program at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Learning about semantics, accessibility, performance, and web standards showed me exactly where I could make a meaningful difference.
During my studies, I secured an internship at de Voorhoede in Amsterdam - a pivotal experience that deepened my practical understanding. I accepted a full-time position after graduation and continue working to make the web better for everyone.
Technical Expertise
I approach projects with an HTML and CSS foundation first, adding JavaScript enhancements only when they truly improve the user experience. I have experience with modern frameworks like React, Vue, and Angular, plus static site generators like NextJS, Nuxt, and Astro.
Rather than committing to a single framework, I understand the strengths and limitations of each, making informed decisions that best serve each project's unique requirements.
Beyond Coding
When I'm not crafting accessible web experiences, you might find me:
Experimenting with my home server
Baking and cooking authentic recipes
Going for a walk
Working on my car
Enjoying Nintendo games (especially Mario Kart) or immersing myself in story-driven PC games
Coding personal projects for the joy of problem-solving
My Mission
Through this blog, I share my experiments, insights, and discoveries in front-end development. I hope my experiences can help others create more inclusive digital experiences and contribute to a web that truly works for everyone.
Feel free to connect - I'm always open to learning something new!
